President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune issues message on National Shahid Day.( APS,18/02/2026)

ALGIERS - The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, addressed a message to the nation today on the occasion of National Shahid Day (National Martyr's Day), which coincides with 18 February each year. Hereunder is the integral text of the President of the Republic's message:

"In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and prayers and peace be upon His most honorable Messenger.

My fellow citizens,

In honor of the righteous martyrs and in reverence for their sacrifices, we commemorate on the National Shahid Day the memory of women and men who honored Algeria with the faith and courage to defeat colonialism, and a commitment to dignity and freedom, bestowed upon them by Allah.

They entrusted the Algerian people with the values of the blessed liberation revolution and the nobility of its goals.

On this occasion, we stand with gratitude and pride to express our duty of loyalty and steadfastness to this path.

We continue, at this stage, to face the challenges of completing the journey that we began together at the start of the decade.

Despite the difficulties along the journey, we have made, praise be to Allah, great strides that have transformed our beloved country into a space for workshops, teeming with the landmarks of work, construction, and development across all provinces.

Turning it into a hub of stability, attracting both local and foreign investment, as confirmed by the most reliable statistics and recognized by relevant institutions.

In our conviction, what has been accomplished is merely a token of gratitude to the martyrs whom we honor on this occasion, and a testament to the constant awareness of the trust of the people, whose hopes and aspirations continue to guide the path toward fulfilling the promise of the emerging State.

We are immensely proud that its foundation was loyalty to the martyrs, its driving force was sincere patriotism, and its goal was the elevation of Algeria...

It is a journey that has moved the country from a state of imminent danger to a climate of confidence and hope in a New Algeria embraced by the people, who are now engaged in a process of sustainable development, the effects of which are felt throughout our vast country.

As Algeria commemorates the National Shahid Day, it invokes the eternal glory of its fallen heroes, those whose pure souls soar forever in our skies, guiding the nation’s steps forward and inspiring within its people a profound sense of pride and dignity.

On this occasion, I join you in paying tribute to every honorable man and woman who stood in resistance across the decades, and to the heroic revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for the National Liberation Revolution.

I also salute our valiant Mujahideen, may Allah grant them long life, as they continue to sow the seeds of loyalty and grace across this sacred land, praying for the protection of Algeria and its people.
